Modern Extension

The house needed reconfiguration but original walls were kept which made it clear that an extension was needed to create a kitchen as the heart of the house, without demolishing historic fabric.

Here you are met by a Danish inspired smoked oak and stainless steel kitchen that balances and sits under one of two more delicate Japanese inspired ‘floating’ roofs connected with carefully positioned glazing. The second roof covers a hyggelig sunken dining area with sleek danish inspired marble, iron and wood. It was important for the family to have space to bring people together for good food, laughter and conversation. The whole space is primarily glass and makes you unsure if you are indeed in or outside.
